ADULT RECONSTRUCTION

Oak Cliff Orthopaedic Associates provides surgical reconstruction for major joints in multiple areas.   Our doctors perform total joint replacements for arthritic hips, knees, elbows, and shoulders.  We also do all the revision surgery for patients whose joints have failed through the years and need to be re-done. We use the latest techniques with joints that are cemented to the bone, as well as those joints that allow the patient’s bones to bond with the implants (ingrowth).  New and exciting advancements are available each year, allowing these replaced joints to last much longer than they did in the past.  Resurfacing a painful, arthritic joint with the latest materials now available is one of the most rewarding operations we perform for our patients.

ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY

The word arthroscopy comes from two Greek words, “arthro” (joint) and “skopein” (to look).  The word means to literally “look within the joint.”  In the past, treatment of orthopaedic injuries involved extensive surgery, including large incisions, a hospital stay and a prolonged recovery period.  Arthroscopy has revolutionized the treatment of joint injuries.  Oak Cliff Orthopaedic Associates performs all types of arthroscopic surgery.  Our doctors are very capable of performing arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and ankle.  With the use of an arthroscope our doctors are able to visualize, make diagnoses, and surgically treat different problems or injuries involving the joint.  The latest arthroscopic equipment is at our doctors’ disposal.  With the advent of the arthroscope, advancements are becoming available allowing our doctors to use less invasive procedures and incisions in an effort to minimize the trauma as well as improve the cosmetic appearance postoperatively.  The arthroscope has given our doctors the ability to treat difficult problems and return the patient to a productive life quickly.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Oak Cliff Orthopaedic Associates’ Physical Therapy department is part of a team working with four orthopaedic surgeons who make up the practice.  The Physical Therapy clinic was initiated 6 years ago when a need arose for pre-op and post-op care for total knee replacement patients.  Over the next few years our orthopaedic practice grew enough to require a need for a more diverse physical therapy regimen.  We treat orthopaedic upper and lower extremity pathologies as well as lower back and neck problems.  Our goal is to assist the patient in their rehabilitation so they may achieve an optimum level of functionality.  Our team approach emphasizes individualized treatment programs consisting of hands-on therapy as well as the use of a variety of modalities.

Our services provide a key factor in aiding the patient to full recovery following any injury or surgical intervention.
